Every time I open a cab door, I have hopes of seeing Fleet Foxes playing in the backseat. It’s a pipe dream I blame entirely on the Black Cab Sessions, who, along with La Blogothèque, have consistently produced some of the most intimate live-performance videos on the web, inviting bands to squeeze into the backseat of one particular black taxi and play a stripped-down set as they drive around London. Now the series is set to air — on television, no less — six episodes filmed here in the States.

The lone black cab will see performances from 60 artists spread across six cities during what the trailer calls “a journey to discover the relationship between the music and the city in which it’s made.” We’ll get episodes from some of the most musically rich cities in the country — Philly, Athens, New Orleans, Nashville, Memphis and, of course, this little town of ours (sort of a diss to the West Coast, no?) — featuring the likes of Jack White with Wanda Jackson, Sharon Van Etten, Kyp Malone, The Roots and more. Televised dates and times are to be announced, but we feel confident saying that you’ll want to watch.
