Summer BBQ Blowout Festival: Our favorite foodie DJs at Finger On the Pulse are hosting one hell of a summer BBQ over at City Winery in Tribeca. Pricey? At $60, it’s not cheap. But look at what you get: 10 servings from some amazing chefs like Mile End’s Noah Bernamoff, Momofuku Milk Bar’s Christina Tosi, Dinner With the Band‘s Sam Mason, The Meatball Shop’s Daniel Holzman and more, plus two drinks and hours of live bands and DJs.
Some Like it Cold: It’s cold soup time over at Huckleberry Bar, where contestants will battle it out to see who makes the best gazpacho, borscht, etc. in Brooklyn. For $10 you get all the soup you can eat plus free Plymouth Gin cocktails.
The absurdly named Café de la Esquina at Wythe Diner (pictured), housed in the former Relish space in Williamsburg, finally opens this weekend. Like La Esquina in Soho, the restaurant is split up in different parts: a casual tacqueria outside, a diner space complete with DJ, and a dark back room where chef Akhtar Nawab will serve some of his more upscale creations.
In Park Slope, Purbird (82 6th Ave) will be serving whole and half antibiotic- and hormone-free chickens with Southern-inspired sides like jalapeño mashed potatoes.
