In August of 1974, French tightrope walker Philippe Petit and a team of friends and acquaintances snuck up to the roof of the World Trade Center and, in a feat of cross-bow aided rogue rope-rigging, secured a wire between the two skyscrapers, which Petit then spent more than an hour walking on—an event famously documented in the film Man on Wire.
