This is the best thing you will read and/or listen to all day. NPR has the story of a 25-person Russian feminist punk collective named Pussy Riot (brilliant) whose members were arrested after a video of their protest in the Red Square went viral on the world wide web.

…feminist groups had campaigned all summer against government legislation that placed restrictions on legal abortions. They were further outraged by the announcement that Putin and current President Dmitry Medvedev planned to change places after the next election.

In December, the band performed a song called “Death To Prison, Freedom To Protest” on the roof of a garage next to a prison where other protesters were being held. [NPR]

According to NPR, Pussy Riot is planning on more protest performances in the coming weeks leading up to Russia’s March 4 presidential elections. We will be on the lookout for more videos. In the meantime, read more about Pussy Riot here and here.
