On Tuesday night, the lights of 158 Allen Street were aglow with Sailor Jerry-covered creative types talking shop and trying on letterman jackets in a surprisingly minimalist, gallery style space. The occasion is put on David Cross in Brooklyn Magazine) and handcrafted jewelry from another Brooklyn based designer, Bernard James.

Perhaps if Brooklyn Circus’s prep school students dropped out to join Sons of Anarchy instead (while still wearing their varsity jacket), it might look something like these humble sized racks of t-shirts and classic work wear influenced button-ups, self aware in their deconstructed patriotism. Daniel is actually an admitted Parsons drop out—so following the likes of Alexander Wang and Zac Posen, he will make those who suffered through a senior thesis feel like chumps when he inevitably becomes rich and famous.

The brother team’s dad is from Sheepshead Bay, and they currently reside and work in Brooklyn. While acknowledging their path leads more logically to this borough, they rely on the foot traffic only Manhattan can provide. They do hope to set up shop here in the future, though, and when they do, there’s been discussion of a potential store in a warehouse with motorcycles. Fingers crossed.
