So this is what indie rock looks like in 2012: Fresh off an appearance on Saturday Night Live, a drummerless duo known for loud, sloppy beats, pointy-headstocked guitars and over-driven metal riffs performs an acoustic set for a radio station, including a cover of Beyoncé’s massively popular slow-jam “Irreplaceable” that contains not the slightest hint of irony, even during that part where she rhymes “in a minute” with “in a minute.” Progress? Maybe. Listen below and decide for yourself. (via Stereogum)

  • There’s not much difference between this and what I imagine some lame, lesser pop star like Taylor Swift could have pulled off. Boring cover from a boring band. Not progress. Just a shitty attempt at appealing to a mainstream crowd.
