What a sweet, sweet lineup: Last week, Brooklyn Vegan tentatively announced that Purity Ring and Wye Oak would be opening for the Dirty Projectors at the Prospect Park Bandshell as part of July’s Celebrate Brooklyn! series. Today, Pitchfork confirmed the news—and the site has released the dates for the rest of the Projectors’ North American tour.
The show arrives on July 10, the same day as the Projectors’ newest album, Swing Lo Magellan, is set to drop. Judging from what we’ve heard of the record so far—L Mag music critic Jeff Klingman wrote earlier today that the single “Gun Has No Trigger” sets the bar for the rest of the album “moonbase high”—the Prospect Park show promises to be one hell of a release celebration. Recent 4AD and Last Gang sign-ons Purity Ring will be bringing their melodic, spacey electro-pop to the stage, and Wye Oak (whose 2011 album Civilian some of us *cough* have been listening to on near-repeat for about year now) will perform as well. Fingers crossed for new, wrenching, guitar-driven material at the show from Wye Oak’s Jenn Wasner and Andy Stack. In the meantime, interested parties can scope out the ticket situation here.
