Mark your calendars, dear readers, because SummerScreen is back for another season. Yes, Williamsburg’s biggest, best (er, and only!) outdoor film series is taking over McCarren Park once again to bring you a free film every Wednesday starting on July 11th. As ever, you’ll be able to find us in the ballfields at the corner of Bedford and N.12th with a Sixpoint can in one hand and pizza/an empanada/some other delicious thing we’ll have for sale in the other.
And this year, we’re trying something new. We’re letting you, the committed but discerning fan of free summer movies, choose the sixth and final film of the series. We’ve provided a list of nominees, all of them deserving in their own way, and you’ll have the chance to vote for the one you’d most like to see. The list? Sure: Showgirls, The Goonies, The Lost Boys, Beetlejuice, Scream, Pee Wee’s Big Adventure, Empire Records, and Fast Times at Ridgemont High.
To cast your vote for the film you’d most like to watch while sitting on concrete with 5,000 of your closest (and most attractive) neighbors, you’ll have to visit our Facebook page, which you should do anyway, on account of all the insanely smart and funny things we say on there all the time. The winning film will be announced on Thursday, July 19th, and will screen on Wednesday, August 15th. Grab a pen, because here’s the remainder schedule:July 11
August 22 and 29
See you at the park!
