Every burger-flinging, popsicle-melting, suntan-inducing July 4th BBQ needs a solid soundtrack. This probably isn’t the one. (If you’re in the market for something that pairs well with grilling, we suggest a steady alternation between Miley Cyrus’ “Party in the U.S.A.” and that “Call Me Maybe” song.) But for a geographically savvy twist, we cobbled together a playlist dedicated to the cities, states and regions that make up America. Funny how Best Coast can love a place so much and EMA wants to tell the same place to fuck itself… but that’s ok! Some of these songs paint their subject matter favorably while others don’t; it’s the patchwork of experiences that gives this country color, right? Yes! Check out the tracklist below and listen here on Spotify. Point is, happy Fourth of July (also, wear sunscreen and register to vote).
