With the brunt of Hurricane Sandy’s damage inflicted, it may be awhile before the city returns to normal. Train service won’t be fully restored for several days and the same goes for many without power. To say the least, that’s nobody’s happy about this. So for those of us who could use break from the stress, we’ve got good news: BAM’s got power and Internet so they’ve decided to stay open. For anyone who lives within walking distance of Downtown Brooklyn or who’s willing to spring for cab, that means all the cinematek and Jimmy Kimmel live you can handle!

Tonight, BAM Rose Cinemas continues its spooky movie series For Demon Lovers with a double screening of the cult-classics Demon Seed (1977) and Invocation of My Demon Brother (1971). That’s so many demons! Demon Seed what happens when you get raped and impregnated by computer. Uh, fun times? The movie’s based on the Dean Koontz novel of the same name. Kenneth Anger’s 11-minute-film Invocation of My Demon Brother might be creepier, if only because it seems more based in the scariness of the everyday, featuring a Satanic funeral for a dead cat and full-frontal nudity, all set to the beat of a Mick Jagger-composed synthesizer soundtrack.

If you’re not into demons, new releases The Master, The Perks of Being a Wallflower, and Argo will also be screened.
