Confirmation of what we’ve all sort of known to be inevitable: Lower East Side mainstay Max Fish will be shutting down their original Ludlow St. location and moving to Williamsburg this summer, most likely some time in late July.
Previous reports that the bar will be moving to 130 Metropolitan Ave in Williamsburg look to be true, and owner Ulli Rimkus has said that both dramatically rising rent and what we can delicately call the “changing demographic” in the area are to blame.
With a few hours left before I stop using the internet for a full 72 hours, I have, like, just enough self-restraint left not to respond to this news by embedding the video for “Closing Time,” but not much more. Failing that, here’s hoping their stint in Williamsburg is as memorable as their years on the LES. The neighborhood could use a few more bars, or something.
