SummerScreen, The L Magazine‘s annual outdoor summer movie series starts Wednesday, July 10! You know the drill by now: every Wednesday, all summer long, we’re showing your favorite movies from the 80’s and 90’s at McCarren Park. And, of course, we start every evening off with live sets from Brooklyn bands. This year, SummerScreen’s music will be brought to you by SHOWPAPER and Todd P with each night curated by local independent bookers and all-ages venues like Death By Audio, Silent Barn, JMC Aggregate and more. And did we mention it’s free? Because it’s totally free. You’ll find us at McCarren Park at the corner of Bedford Ave. and N. 12th St. (right next to the tennis courts). Gates open at 6pm, bands start at 6:30, and we’ll get the movies started by sundown. You’ll find the complete 2013 SummerScreen lineup, complete with movies and music, after the jump.

And be sure to bring your appetites because Pizza Moto, Handsome Hanks, Landhaus, Coolhaus, V Spot and Selemat Pagi will be there to make sure you’re fed. And because it wouldn’t be SummerScreen without copious amounts of frosty beer, Sixpoint Brewery will be there too, along with City Winery. Plus, Starbucks® Iced Coffee, vitaminwater and Crunch Gym will be on site to serve up some special complimentary treats.

And finally, we’re leaving the final film of the summer up to you; if you haven’t cast your vote yet, now’s the time to do it! Just visit our Facebook page and choose from this list of old favorites: Mallrats, The Neverending Story, High Fidelity, The Breakfast Club, The Big Lebowski, Heathers and Scream. We’ll screen the winning film on Wednesday, August 14.

Thank you to our sponsors for keeping SummerScreen free: 55DSL, Adult Swim, Starbucks® Iced Coffee, City Winery, Crunch Gyms, vitaminwater, East River Ferry, Squarespace, Enterprise Car Share, Cinedigm and Zipcar.

In case of rain, bands will be relocated to a nearby venue (usually 285 Kent Ave) with the same 6pm-sundown set times. We’ll announce whether or not shows will be moved by 3pm on rainy days at toddpnyc.com.
