Ever wish there was a bar big enough to hold all your friends, project your favorite movies and see some great music? We got it covered, as SummerScreen returns for its best season yet. Join us every Wednesday from July through August as Northside brings you its free film series in McCarren Park. Didn’t have the dough to catch Heathers on Broadway? Yeah, neither did we. Good thing it made this year’s list, along with Back to the Future, Zoolander, Cry-Baby and The Big Lebowski.
Did we mention the bands and booze? Todd P. and Showpaper reclaim curating duties as they select Brooklyn’s best for some pre-screen serenading. Local vendors will be available with food and drink as you spread out those blankets, kick back under the stars and take in the sites and sounds of the seventh annual SummerScreen. The final film is up to you, so be sure to vote for your favorite of this year’s candidates, including: Kill Bill Vol. 1, Jawbreaker, Fast Times at Ridgemont High, The Warriors, Spice World, Big Trouble in Little China and Mean Girls.
Doors to the park open at 6pm, with bands beginning at 6:30pm and movies starting at dusk. The entrance to SummerScreen is on the corner of Bedford and North 12th. Stay in the know on all the news, rain dates and updated vendors and bands at summerscreen.org.
