Gay-Baiting Tea Party Candidate Wants Chick-fil-A To Come To Brooklyn

Ignoring our general love of the gay community, preference for food that isn't full of disgusting gristle, and the very existence of The Commodore's chicken sandwich, Republican State Assembly candidate Russell Gallo has penned an open letter to Chick fil-A president Dan Cathy inviting him to open a branch of the openly homophobic fast food joint in South Brooklyn.

Responding to Christine Quinn's public request that NYU remove the restaurant from its cafeteria, Gallo, a self-described Tea Partier, wrote:

“I want you to know that Ms. Quinn does not speak for all New Yorkers. I and many of my neighbors agree with your views on traditional family units. But more importantly, I’m sure we all could agree that no one in government should tell anyone what to believe, who to support and how to spend our money."

Gallo, later said, “I and many of the people in the district agree with Mr. Cathy’s views on family, but that’s not the point. I sent a letter to Dan Cathy to invite him to open a Chick-Fil-A in the district because, unlike Quinn and [Gallo's 45th District election opponent Assemblyman Steven Cymbrowitz], I respect our individual rights and freedoms.”

We assume Gallo also supports our freedom to ignore all of his PR foolery until he loses this election and quiets back down.
