Anyone who has ever been to an event at a major stadium knows that what's important definitely isn't the architecture or the actual sports, but the concessions stands.

No? Well, even if you pay more attention to "athletics" than I do, the food stands are still a crucially important part of the experience. Hence, our excitement at some new leads on what, exactly, the Barclays Center will be serving up.

Yesterday, the New York Times reported on food from 130 local businesses that will be vending at the Center, and it's formidable: Nathan's Hot Dogs, Calexico, McClure's Pickles, Brooklyn Bangers, and Fatty 'Cue are all on the line-up, to name just a few.

“Even before it became the food capital, there were 90 different ethnic groups,” explained developer Bruce Ratner. “We had an opportunity that almost nobody else ever had: to pick through all these different types of restaurants and foods and make it local.”

Plus, earlier today ESPN's Darren Rovel Tweeted this picture of one of the menus, the key point of which is most definitely the presence of the "Stinky Brown Butter Rice Krispy Treat:"

If, like me, your sports traditions consist of eating yourself into a stupor while watching someone else perform at their athletic peak, this is very, very good news.
