The Palates
There are two of these Asian restaurants: Dao Palate on Fifth in Park Slope, and Vegetarian Palate on Flatbush in Prospect Heights. Dao is a nicer place to sit in and eat: it's dark and romantic. Vegetarian is the first vegetarian restaurant I ever went to, brought there by a friend after a Bush-era protest against the war in Grand Army Plaza. It blew my mind that there were whole restaurants serving vegetarian food! I took my whole family there to marvel at it when I graduated from Brooklyn College! Such things no longer surprise me—I'm not as sheltered and stupid—but the chicken nuggets here are still tops. A great bonus to the Flatbush Avenue spot is that they'll deliver as far as Prospect Lefferts Garden, if you happen to live in PLG. [photo]
