At Home with Max and Margaret
What are the three things you'd save first in a fire?
Margaret: I don’t even know. If there’s a fire, just get the fuck out. Who cares? Ok, photo albums, the cash in my mattress, and Max. Does he count as inanimate? Wait, I have some Stubbs and Wooton slippers I’d be really sad to see toasted.
Max: You have cash in your mattress? The giant squirrel painting, our hard drive, and my books. All of them.
What's your favorite room in the space? And favorite time of day?
The huge dining room that we’ve turned into our studio room is the best space. It’s got vaulted ceilings and gorgeous moulding. It feels so grand and the light is great all day because there are windows on both sides and only french doors between. Plus, we have our huge gold shark hanging from the ceiling. She makes us happy every single day.
If you suddenly received a windfall of cash, what changes would you make to your space?
Goodbye, kitchen. :(
If you could move your house/block/neighborhood to another city, which one would it be, and why?
To Cockaigne, the mythical land of plenty, because there even the nuns are easy, the streets are paved with doughnuts, it rains cheese, for god’s sake—and it sounds like “cocaine."
