The Weekender: What to Wear While Watching the Olympics

If you’re anything like us, you roll your eyes at the merest mention of the Olympics, completely ignore the opening ceremony…and then three days in happen to catch five minutes of, say, the double ring rhythmic gymnastics competition and from that point you’re completely hooked and cursing yourself for not tuning in from the beginning. Do things differently with this year’s London games and start your “USA! USA!” chants a bit earlier when the fun kicks off today. Instead of donning one of Team USA’s made-in-China uniforms, try one of these American-made pieces.

FOR LADIES

If you don’t have a stars-and-stripes dress already hanging in your closet (the more Kelly Bundy-esque, the better), get all patriotic with this American Apparel tee. We swear it’s not cheesy if you pair it with a pair of leather shorts or your tallest clogs.

FOR GENTLEMEN

Watching ripped athletes half your age accomplish aw-inspiring feats of strength isn’t exactly an ego booster—but if you do it while wearing Outlier’s Three Way Shorts, you’ve got the potential to take part in your own triathlon (bike to Rockaway, take a dip, and then pound a few beers after).
