Last year’s Afropunk Festival was cancelled due to rain (thanks, Irene), but the city’s patience is being rewarded with a stellar lineup. Janelle Monae, TV on the Radio, Erykah Badu, Spank Rock, Das Racist, Reggie Watts, Toro y Moi, Gym Class Heroes…the list goes on and on—and that’s just for bands; there will also be a skate competition, flea market, art wall, and lots of food trucks throughout Saturday and Sunday. Here’s what to wear when you head to Fort Greene’s Commodore Berry Park.

FOR LADIES

Take a cue from headliner Janelle Monae and stick with black and white. This striped silk dress by Joie, stocked by nearby boutique Thistle and Clover, fits the bill.

FOR GENTLEMEN

While the forecast is looking good for this weekend, it’s better to be safe than sorry. These “highly water resistant” sneakers from Red Hook’s Outlier will keep you comfortable whether you spend the weekend jamming to Ninjasonik, partaking in the skateboarding contest, or running for cover should storm clouds roll in.

($333 at Outlier’s Friday open studio from 4-7 PM; 87 Richardson Street, 3rd Floor, Williamsburg)
