Amazon's Fashion HQ Moving To Creative "Mecca" Williamsburg

Possibly with the help of the creeps experts over at "Styleblaster," big business titans are starting to catch on that Williamsburg is a hip, fashionable place full of hip, fashionable young people.
As such, Women's Wear Daily reports this week that Amazon has picked up a 40,000-square-foot space on Kent Ave to act as a "studio" for its new-ish fashion vertical.

"We think of it as joining an emerging neighborhood that's known for its creative talent and community," said Amazon Fashion president Cathy Beaudoin, adding, "It's going to be a mecca — we hope — for creative talent."

The "creative talent" in question will likely come from all you people with vague fashion and/or web design and/or photography credentials, given the company's plans to produce "thousands of on-model product images a year" at the location "with the goal of enhancing the presentation of the fashion offerings online and introducing even more engaging editorial for [partner companies Shopbop and MyHabit]."

I don't know if I'd peg Williamsburg as "emerging" — seems like the neighborhood clawed its way out of its womb or cocoon or whatever a while ago — and with their shady track record, I actively try to avoid giving Amazon business in any capacity but still. New jobs in the neighborhood, big changes afoot, etc. etc. Do with this information what you will.
