The Summer at McCarren Park Pool, in Comics

Posted By on Fri, Aug 31, 2012 at 9:00 AM

Pools across the city will close for the season come this Monday's Labor Day; for McCarren Park Pool, it will have been a bittersweet season. The $50 million renovation and grand reopening was cause for celebration, but a series of fights, thefts and at least one pooping drew negative media attention that defined the brand new swimmin' hole as a hotbed for menace—even though most of the time, it served as a welcome respite from the heat for members of the community of all races, creeds and classes.

Illustrator Koren Shadmi walks us through the events of this past summer—in comic-book form!
