Miss America Lives in Brooklyn!

Bess Myerson
In 1945, Bronx native Myerson was crowned Miss America, the first Jewish woman—and New Yorker—to win since the pageant began in 1921. She went on to serve in the administrations of John Lindsay and Ed Koch, and almost won the Democratic primary for US Senate in 1980. And she's still alive!
