Theresa Buchheister — Stewdio Tenant — Title:Point
-How long have you been living in Brooklyn?
6 and half years
-What brought you here?
I left Harlem. I wanted to live in a place accessible to all of the things that keep me up at night and wake me up in the morning. I make plays and events.
-What do you find to be unique about the artistic community in Brooklyn?
It is the place were institutions matter least around these parts (NYC), and, therefore, the most exciting stuff can happen.
-What are some of your inspirations—both in your art/career and just in your everyday life?
Listening in on things. Haunted Houses, amusement parks, circuses, pro wrestling, Buster Keaton, David Byrne, quiet bars, Housing Works, family.
-Do you see yourself staying in Brooklyn?
Yep. Unless it prices me out.
-What's a perfect Brooklyn day for you?
I hardly ever get a full Brooklyn day... But, if I did - walking around, rehearsal, friends at a bar, show, bar, bed (?).
-What are the challenges inherent to being an artist in Brooklyn?
Space and time.
