-How long have you been living in Brooklyn?
90% of the 4 years I've lived in NYC.
-What brought you here?
After getting a job in Manhattan, I could afford to move to Brooklyn. I came to Bushwick because it reminded me most of the places I'd loved before.
-What do you find to be unique about the artistic community in Brooklyn?
There's a lot less self-censorship.
-What are some of your inspirations—both in your art/career and just in your everyday life?
Tumblr and history books and the people I know.
-Do you see yourself staying in Brooklyn?
Not really, but I can't imagine anywhere else I'd rather be so I'm stuck here for a while.
-What's a perfect Brooklyn day for you?
Sleep until noon but since it'd be summer I'd have plenty of daylight, wear a dress, head to some sort of event that I organized with some friends (this summer, I'm hosting my first block party!), end up on someone's roof drinking beers, have some great conversations or at least good banter, watch an acoustic Queen cover band, eat a pizza.
-What are the challenges inherent to being an artist in Brooklyn?
Having everyone ask you what kind of artist you are, because everyone assumes everyone's an artist. Oh, I'm not an artist.
