Beat the Crowds: Where to Watch the Fourth of July Fireworks

Fourth of July fireworks NYC
Now that Macy's will host its Independence Day fireworks display on the Hudson River for the fifth year in a row, favoring West Siders and Jerseyans over Brooklynites, the cliche "best places to watch the fireworks" are no longer the best. I man, why brave the crowds at Brooklyn Bridge Park just in the hopes that the rosy rockets will shoot up higher than the Freedom Tower? Best to enjoy the smaller crowds at these unconventional local destinations; sure, you'll be farther away, but fireworks work at any distance from which you can still see them. [photo]
