Fairway Market, Red Hook

Having worked up an appetite exploring the guts of the Grain Terminal or in need of supplies for the aforementioned concrete picnic (or if you're just down for a traditional picnic at nearby Louis Valentino Jr. Pier and Park, taking in views of something called the Statue of Liberty), Fairway Market will have what you're looking for, even if what you're looking for is a bacon-infused artisanal cheese spread. With 52,000 square-feet to cover, they're housing everything from fresh seafood, to fancy olive oils, to speciality products in pretty much every food category—now all the more admirable since reopening after repairs from Superstorm Sandy. Added bonus: One of the best spots for viewing said Statue of Liberty is from Fairway's parking lot and also its patio cafe, selling ready-to-eat fare from 8am-8pm daily. I just got really hungry. And in the mood to take one of those photos where it looks like you're holding a famous monument in your hands, but it's really just because the camera's angle.
