I Say Good Reading

There is a very good reading tonight if you're feeling like a reading. It's at the Issue Project Room, in Carroll Gardens, and it's with award-winning short-story-master Amy Hempel, National Book Award finalist/loser Jim Shepard (who Mark loves a lot), and Susan Daitch--also a short-story writer and novelist.

Plus there's music from composer/soundmaster Elliott Sharp.

Speaking of the National Book Awards, congratulations to the winners. Let me know where you'll put your crystal statue. Home, office, ship?

Mark was going to write this post, but he said I could do it, and I think I might have let him down with the dearth of detail and enthusiasm. In the end I realized I never actually read anything by Amy Hempel or Jim Shepard (in collected form), but I did almost buy her latest book in hardcover at the Strand, but eventually I put it back on the table. Books are expensive, you guys!
