At Last, a New National Anthem These Beleaugered United States

Well, we here at thelmagazine.com have stumped for My Idaho Home, I Would Die 4 U, Don't Come Around Here No More, American Music, Guns Made America Great, Badlands, A Case of You (actually a potential new Canadian national anthem), Frankie's Gun, If I Ruled the World (Imagine That) and I'm So Bored with the U.S.A.

All worthy selections, more or less. (Have we neglected any you'd care to stump for?) But there's one that I've been holding back on, specifically the one I think that I'd choose, when all is said and done: "This Bitter Earth", as sung by Dinah Washington.

So. What should we be singing before baseball games from here on out?

...and as seen in "Killer of Sheep"? "This Bitter Earth" works perfectly in that scene, but apparently "Unforgettable" was originally used (as per wiki)? I listened to the NPR piece, and they said one song could not be cleared but don't say which one, and that Stephen Soderberg stepped in with a gift to cover rights. I hope someone can set the record straight on this...

also, my pick, if not the anthem, then maybe 7th inning stretch song at Yankee Stadium?
