Animal of the Day: Irish Elk

Posted by Mark on Wed, Aug 20, 2008 at 9:00 AM

The Irish Elk, among the largest species of deer to ever live, was neither Irish nor an Elk, but it was well over two meters high, and lived during the Late Pleistocene. It became extinct because it kept toppling over from the weight of its ENORMOUS FREAKING ANTLERS; if you can steal a set the next time you're in Dublin's Natural History Museum, I'm told they look hella impressive mounted on the walls of your study, over the liquor cabinet.

If I am elected president, I promise that a Big Buck Hunter: "A Sound of Thunder" Time-Travelling Safari Shootout game will be placed in every barroom in America.
