Out Now: The L's Media Issue

[October] Surprise, this Media Issue is kind of also a political issue. Because politics is kind of what the media is focused on at the moment, along with the rest of us. So, behold:
- The 2008 All-Media Guide to American Politics, An Incomplete List of Lying Liars and the Liars Who Lie About Them. Who can we trust? Who agrees with us? Which media outlets report, and which merely decide? What use are any of these people to us? Well, allow us to answer, in our rundown of everything from Wonkette to Fox News to TPM to the Times columnists. Also allow us to make copious fun of Bill Kristol, because seriously now.
- Also, Nate Brown interviews Rachel Maddow, the new face of MSNBC, the first explicitly left-leaning cable news network. She talks about bias, life during wartime, the endless media hype cycle, Sarah Palin, the bailout, negative ads, political philosophy, and prognostications. You should read it, it's a great interview.
- Plus, cabbies and bartenders on where they get their news, and the Conscientious Objector on why the Great New Depression might actually be at least a pretty good thing.
