Is former House speaker Newt Gingrich really fit to be doling out advice to the masses? He'll have his daughter Jackie Gingrich Cushman's help, at least, when the two of them team up to write their forthcoming book, Five Principles for a Successful Life, announced yesterday by Publisher's Marketplace. It's billed as "words of wisdom and advice for leading a fulfilling life with contributions from prominent figures in politics, business, and culture." Guess he's reformed.
More economic fuckupery, revealed! Michael Lewis (Moneyball, The Blind Side) sold an as-yet-untitled tome that's supposed to be a "behind-the-scenes story of a few men and women who foresaw the current economic disaster, tried to prevent it, but were overruled by the financial institutions with whom they worked."
The Obama books are coming! Newsweek reporter Richard Wolffe is preparing Renegade: The Education of Barack Obama. It's based on his reporting on Obama since he hit the campaign trail in February 2007, plus an interview with our President-elect, his aides, and BFFs. With any luck, there more candid, "We can't solve global warming because I f---ing changed light bulbs in my house" quoteables in this one.
