MUSIC:
7:30pm AA Bondy
Mercury Lounge
In a year when the Americana-based indie-rock torch is being carried most obviously by Fleet Foxes, that band serves merely as the most recent (and freakishly talented) reminder that there are countless artists carrying on in the same tradition. AA Bondy, formerly of the late-90s Alabama-based rock band Verbena, has quietly put out one of the year's best records. American Hearts sees Bondy working mostly on acoustic guitar, writing sparse mid-fi indie-folk that's as sweet and warm as anything we've heard in ages. $10.

ART:
8pm Bad Art Auction with Xiu Xiu
(Le) Poisson Rouge
Buy some ugly art for the aunt you don't really like this holiday season. Then indulge in weirdo-rock outfit Xiu Xiu and laugh at Judah Fiedlander's hat (he hosts). All auction proceeds benefit New York Cares. Check nymag.com/nyxny for more info. $25.

READING:

6:30pm A Conversation with Marilyn French and Jessica Valenti
Lower East Side Tenement Museum
The author of the best-selling The Women's Room, the novel that ignited the women's movement, reads from her four-volume history From Eve to Dawn, which traces the role of women over time. Plus, a discussion with Feministing.com editor Valenti. FREE.

They're heeeere... That is, more Halloween horror favorites, a Canadian cult classic, and a restored Ken Jacobs film, which he discusses here.

An all-time great continues a theatrical revival run, a bumper crop of October horror, and an extraordinarily rare Kathy Acker film.
