Free Beer and Music, for to Get You Interested in Literature

Posted by Mark on Thu, Mar 12, 2009 at 9:00 AM

John Wray, who looks kind of like Greg Kinnear and was one of Granta's Best Young American Novelists, has a new book, Lowboy, a fragmented chase through New York's subway systems centered around a schizophrenic teenager on a mission to save the world, his mother, his caseworker, and others. At least one L Mag editor who has read the book considers it "outstanding."

So, celebrate, with free beer. Wray reads from the book at its "launch party" tonight at Spike Hill (yes, books have launch parties now), where there'll be free Dogfish Head while it lasts. Then he'll play some music, because they don't let you be an author in New York anymore unless you have a sideline in indie rock.
