So, it's really happening, I guess, unless this whole "hey L Magazine Film Editor Mark Asch, we have a fiction competition can you put out a Call for Submissions and arrange for listings and read and asses a couple hundred submissions and get questions for New York City Literary Trivia and make yourself available to our panel of judges and tell everyone you know to come" thing was all just an elaborate ruse to get me to put on a suit and show up at the Slipper Room (167 Orchard Street) next Thursday at 7pm and be all... "Huh? Where is everybody?"
Well, if I have to be duped into attending this thing, I'm bringing you all with me. (Somebody's gotta get on stage to answer trivia questions during the break, yes?) So, you should all come, for the short beer and cheap fiction; witty literary banter and boozy L Mag in-jokes; and prospect of burlesque to follow. Guys, The L Magazine's Literary Upstart: The Search for Pocket Fiction readings are here, almost. It's the only reason I haven't moved to Philly yet. So, mark yr calendars. (And submit, if you haven't!)
