Red Hook Vendors Return Tomorrow!

bc6e/1241191451-2683034441_682bf64e44.jpgStart making up excuses to go to Ikea and the Red Hook Pool—the Red Hook vendors (those delightful makers of Latin street food that might actually make your friend from LA shut the fuck up already about how bad East Coast tacos are) return to the ball fields tomorrow, May 2nd. Serious Eats has a terrific primer for vendor virgins.

Expect to see them in other places, though: they run satellite stands at the Brooklyn Flea in Fort Greene, last year they journeyed to The Bell House in Gowanus for Brooklyn Based's election night party and we hear more ventures outside the Hook are in the works.

A friend and I took the Ikea water taxi to Red Hook last weekend to eat grilled corn, huraraches and fresh pineapple. Unfortunately, the pupusa vendor was out of smoky beans by late afternoon, and we ate our plantains plain. Still, it was great. Then we ate $1 frozen yogurt from Ikea. We were really satisfied.
