Woodstock Celebrates 40th Anniversary With All the Worst Bands That Played Woodstock

ad65/1241539594-jeffersonstarship.jpegThere is no telling what kind of sad old people will head to the Bethel Woods Center for the Arts in upstate New York on August 15 for a recently announced show celebrating the 40th anniversary of the original Woodstock. Not surprisingly, no one cool is playing it. Not CSNY, not the Band, not the Who, not Creedence, or any of the other not-dead alumni. Instead, you'll be asked to pony up an insane amount of money, I'm sure, to see Big Brother & the Holding Company, Ten Years After, Canned Heat, Mountain, and Country Joe McDonald, with the biggest names so far, Levon Helm and, god help us, Paul Kantner of Jefferson Airplane/Starship (holy shit, pictured!). Man, it must be nice to have no shame and live in the past, even though, in the past, you were the least talented of all your friends. [AP via Arts, Briefly]
