If your copy of Mirroir Noir, the Arcade Fire DVD that was released back in April, seems just a bit blah, or if you’re feeling like the $15 you shelled out for it wasn’t quite enough, or if you’ve been thinking you need to do a bit more to help those less fortunate than you, it is your lucky day. Members of the band have signed 250 copies of the DVD, which they’ll be selling for $250 each. Should you cough up the dough, you’ll also receive a limited edition, hand-numbered silk-screened poster. All benefits will be donated to Partners in Health, a Haitian non-profit that works to provide healthcare for the poor. More details will be up soon at the band's website.
What the band is doing is admirable, obviously, and I hope they make a lot of money for Partners in Health. But I have a terrible feeling these deluxe packages are gonna wind up some serious cash on ebay very soon, with all sorts of profit going directly to people who prey on indie rock kids who act like 9-year-old boys chasing around their favorite baseball player.
