Stockholder Taking Over

Posted by Benjamin Sutton on Tue, May 12, 2009 at 2:30 PM

4f2a/1242152653-stockholderweb.jpgHey, remember how Roxy Paine's steel trees (now strewn all over the Met's rooftop) used to be in Madison Square Park? Well that picturesque Shake Shack dining area's latest installation opened at the beginning of the month, and the new public artist in residence is Seattle-born, New Haven-based installation artist and sculptor Jessica Stockholder (work at right). For a better understanding of her work, though, you'll want to check out the outstanding exhibition of her recent pieces, Sailcloth Tears, that just opened at Mitchell-Innes & Nash in Chelsea (until June 13).
