Open Mic Monologues

b002/1243445577-mmslambuabig.jpgTonight 92YTribeca plays host to a strange hybrid event that's part poetry slam, part open mic and part debate club with a hint of freestyle rap battling. The Manhattan Monologue Slam's latest showdown starts at 8pm (doors at 7pm), with a first act of 8 pre-selected actors squaring off in a competition of three-minute monologues. In act two, members of the audience who've signed up get to speak their piece in 30-second mini monologues ("minilogues"?). The whole event will be judged by industry pros like agents, casting directors and actors, but it's much more than an incestuous industry meet and greet. Think of it more like watching auditions for "Broadway's Next Tony-Winner." Click here for details and tickets ($10 in advance, $15 at the door).
