ee4d/1243872060-oldcouple.jpgTwo free play readings today feature fleeting portraits of golden age love. The latest installment in the Public Theater's Emerging Writers Group, Red Rooster (readings at 3pm and 7pm, RSVP at 212-967-7555), tells of a Hurricane Katrina refugee taken in as a caregiver by an elderly man in New Jersey with the understanding that upon his death she'll take possession of his home. Their symbiotic relationship takes a bit of a hit when the old man's son shows up snooping for inheritance.

At the 45 Bleecker Theater, a free performance of Nick Raio's new play Sheila and Angelo stars Sopranos character actors Dan Grimaldi and Marcia Haufrecht. The play is set in a Florida retirement community where the two meet and fall in love. The free performance begins at 7pm, reservations can be had at 212-260-8250.
