In the meantime, while Venice celebrates the contemporary art canon and Bushwick tries to promote an emerging arts community without selling it out, The Scholastic Alliance for Young Artists & Writers is giving promising teen artists (between 7th and 12th grade) their first Manhattan gallery show.

This month 22 venues will showcase work by the winners of The 2009 Scholastic Art & Writing Awards, starting today with exhibitions of painting, drawing and photography like New York student Edward Park's layered painting collages (pictured) at the World Monuments Fund gallery (15 E 27th St, Tue-Sat 11am-5pm, through June 24) and sculpture, installation, video and design at the Aronson Gallery at Parsons (66 Fifth Ave, Mon-Fri 9am-9pm, Sat-Sun 10am-6pm, through June 22).
