In Chelsea, the group exhibition White Noise opens at James Cohan Gallery (533 W 26th St) from 6-8pm. Using various media, the artists in the exhibition (including Anne Collier, Fred Tomaselli, Robin Rhode and Jack Pierson, whose work appears at right) explore different ways of representing sounds and music in contemporary art.
Tonight, the New Museum (235 Bowery) hosts a free party and showcase for the winning participants in Artists Wanted's open call competition Art vs Design. Faced with the question of which area of aesthetic practice moves people more, art or design, hundreds of artists from over 60 countries responded with an incredible wealth and variety of answers. Tonight, at a free reception at 8pm at the New Museum (with a free after-party at Katra Lounge), the winners will be announced.
