39be/1246562300-rottenmetalachievers.jpgJust because some of us have the day off doesn't mean the whole art world is coming to a stop. After all, if there's any group less likely to observe a patriotic national holiday than communist (practically terrorist) artists, I've never heard of 'em. Art parties to get your long weekend started:

Williamsburg/Bushwick
Holly Faurot & Sarah H. Paulson perform their epic 5-hour piece Rotten Metal Achievers (pictured) at Grace Exhibition Space, 840 Broadway, 2nd Fl (at Park St), 7pm-12am
Summer group show Helios opens at C.C.C.P. Gallery, 38 R Marcy Ave (at Hope St), 7-9pm

Midtown
Screening of Bimba, the Enlightened Capoeira as part of Négritude: Brazilian Film Series at Exit Art, 475 Tenth Ave (at 36th St), at 6pm ($5 suggested donation)
