Opening reception for Basically Human: Conditional Identities / Conditional Spaces, a photography exhibition in conjunction with the American University in Dubai and screening of Transit Dubai at SVA Gallery, 209 E 23rd St (between Second and Third Aves), 4:30-8pm

Tribeca
Loosely structured around the plot of Alice in Wonderland, Wondermare looks at how we use stories to understand the world we inhabit at Apexart, 291 Church St (between Walker and White Sts), 6-8pm

Chelsea
The group show After Color, curated by Amani Olu, examines how photographers (like Michael Vahrenwald, work pictured) use black and white images to stand out in an art world now dominated by large-scale color photography. Opening reception at Bose Pacia, 508 W 26th St, 11th Fl (between Tenth and Eleventh Aves), 6-9pm
