Politics Anthony Weiner to Wed Waaay Out of His League

Seriously? I've never really understood the appeal of Brooklyn Congressman Anthony Weiner: he seems to have all the shrill peevishness of an old-school Brooklyn housewife with none of the amiable gravitas of an old-school Brooklyn cop, relying on the worst kind of populist pseudo-skepticism to raise the rabble. (Yes, clearly my knowledge of old-school Brooklyn comes from dollar-bin Pete Hamill books, but I'M A FOREIGNER AND I JUST WANT TO UNDERSTAND YOUR BEAUTIFUL COUNTRY.) This is the guy who voted for a bill he thought "sucked." Further exacerbating my puzzlement at the putatively bright national prospects of Rep. Weiner, is the news that Huma Abedin has agreed, in principle, to become his wife. Huma Abedin is the very smart, very successful aide to Secretary of State Clinton; also, she is beautiful.
So yeah, little Tony Weiner, son of Mort and Fran Weiner, is fighting way above his weight, and I'm just waiting for the inevitable knock-out. Because I am a small and bitter man.
