Neutral Milk Hotel Covers are Often, But Not Always, Terrible

As Stereogum reported yesterday, Robin Pecknold of Fleet Foxes covered Neutral Milk Hotel's "Two-Headed Boy" at a show this past Saturday. It's ok, I guess, if nothing to write home about. It's strange how the song seems less powerful when there's any instrumentation beyond guitar and vocals. Here, listen:
