Touring New York's Summer Art Installations

373f/1249059465-ethan_long_dirt_sculpture_lg.gifWe've done out best to keep up with the summer's public art events — from murals to private rooftops to emasculating forts to the High Line and the Governors' Island extravaganza — but it would appear we've missed at least one of the season's intriguing installations. ARTINFO published their public art picks this week, and save for the lone entry we missed they make for a great walking tour of Manhattan. That extra would be Ethan Long's Dirt Sculpture, DDP 2.0 (pictured) out near the Rockaway Beach Boardwalk. Now that's the kind of art we can turn into an excuse for a beach trip! Click here to see all ARTINFO's picks (and infer, by process of elimination, which public artworks they didn't like).
