Frank Lloyd Wright — whose exquisite retrospective at the Guggenheim Museum continues through August 23 — designed six hotels in his lifetime, but only one remains. The Park Inn Hotel (pictured) in Mason City, Iowa, has gone through some changes since its completion in 1910. It was converted into apartments, used as a strip club, and left abandoned at various times.

Recently, though, a group of Wright enthusiasts (who I'm assuming gather in a Wrightian tree house to swap Frank Lloyd Wright trading cards and build Frank Lloyd Wright Lego buildings) called Wright on the Park raised the necessary funds to buy the building and set about restoring it. Start planning your cross-country road trip now, so that you can time your arrival in Iowa for the early 2011 grand reopening of Wright's Park Inn.
