News New York's New Bike Racks Finally Hitting the Streets!

Just after complaining in our current issue that the Department of Transportation (DOT) has yet to deploy the winning designs from a competition last year to create newer, spiffier bike racks for New York City sidewalks, I'm happy to pass along the news from Streetsblog that the first few have been spotted (though nobody seems sure where).

At right is a pic of the city's first next generation bike rack (after the winning design by Ian Mahaffy and Maarten De Greeve of Bettlelab) as posted by @zacfrank. Anybody know where this is or seen any others? Leave a comment, send a tip or submit your pictures.
