Theater Broadway Becoming Younger, Edgier Soon, Maybe

Per the Times, Roth is 33 years old, which makes him about half a century younger than his competitors at the Shubert and Nederlander organizations, whose leaders Philip J. Smith and James M. Nederlander are 78 and 87, respectively. Clearly it's too soon to say how Roth will or will not help bring a new and younger audience to Broadway, but it's never too soon to start dreaming. If I can make a suggestion, Mr. Roth: a musical adaptation of Down by Law, starring the original cast of Tom Waits, John Lurie and Roberto Benigni.
